Android Girlfriends

I had a very interesting convo with a very smart, and very eccentric friend. He is convinced AI human like robots are very close.

My initial thought was ‘nah, we are not near. Not by a long shot.’ But we talked.

He might be right.

The discussion ended up being about how good does an android have to be to supplant a ‘real’ relationship? How good does RoboGirl have to be before someone checks out of the dating scene?

Keep in mind RoboGirl has zero negatives. She doesn’t spend money, never gets PMS, she can crack jokes, clean the house, she sings beautifully while she cooks, naked, and she can do your taxes the second you ask her to. In one second. And she never ever isn’t in the mood. If you are a 5, no worries. She isn’t.

Does she love you? No. But can she fake it perfectly? Yup.

Ever been in a relationship where the other person didn’t really love you? How different would it be?

He has been thinking about this. It hadn’t crossed my mind. But man! It might be true.

I had a part time relationship for a year or so. It was really fun. Amazing sex We were very Compatible Capital C. There were structural issues. It couldn’t continue and didn’t. However during that year I dated no other women. That is the point. The relationship was not full. Some great aspects. Some not. She didn’t love me, I don’t think. She liked me a lot and I bet 45 years later she still gets a smile if she thinks of me, as I do her.

The point is, it was enough to stop me sniffing around looking for the next ‘real’ one. For a year. I didn’t feel the need.

Let’s say an Android GF can never be as good as a very good real one. Can it be 75% as good? 50%? 90%? Keep in mind the best kindest warmest most beautiful woman still is a pain in the butt some substantial amount of time. RoboGal is never a pain in the butt.

Now reverse it. RoboGuy is an amazing cook. He gives great massages. Really great, and he never gets bored. He likes to hear about your day! He really does. He can repair anything around the house (RoboGal can too). He speaks Italian in the bedroom. He has a great sense of humour. And HE WRITES poetry!! About you! As far as being endowed…how endowed do you want him to be?

Do you see the issue? At what point would it be good enough one would not pursue an actual human?
