Agree 💯. Some of Carlin is funny and some is liberal nonsense.

And yet, like Dave Chappelle and the Smothers Brothers, much of George Carlin's best work made us recognize and focus on the hypocrisy and stupidity of the world.

True. But Rules for Radicals has as a first principle to demoralize. As does Marxism. He was funny, clever and demoralizing. This world is filled with bits of information. 50% positive, 50% negative. Let’s say at any moment one is confronted with 1 Billion bits. Out of that we take a small number, say 100. Maybe even a 1000. But we don’t see the whole. Nor can we. We choose ahead of time what we will focus on. A 1000 good bits, or 1000 bad bits.

It isn’t as if what he was saying was factually incorrect. But what is the point of pointing out there are corrupt people in the world? We KNOW that. That is not what our world has to be.

On the other hand, 95% of the universe is made of either dark matter or dark energy. This is not to say that there is anything good about it; but it puts things into perspective. Spiritually, those who have morals and values in the West seem to be disappearing.

There’s a way some comedians have of getting us to see things that makes us all laugh and that actually brings people together. Carlin didn’t do that very well a lot of times. Many times he used his acts more like a weapon to ridicule and attack so he was not very funny at times in my opinion.

I found him to be a pretty dark person sometimes. Most atheists are.

Yeah, they are. But it would almost be impossible not to be if you’re an atheist.

My friends who were most into him were atheists. And very tamped down. Apathetic. They saw no point in anything. And three I know of off rhe top of my head were all alcoholics.
