Where do we go from here....

Truth is the only way out - Part One

I have been flummoxed by the stupidity I have seen over the past few years. Of course throughout my life I have seen stupidity, including in myself. I have never seen such angry stupidity though as I have over the last eight years. And, maybe even more so, I have never seen such hardened stupidity. It seemed, and maybe I am not remembering well enough, when someone held an opinion that was based on scanty evidence you could talk them out of it. At the very least one could cause them to think about the issue, perhaps even a bit differently.

Ah…I think I have hit on something! One never could talk a fanatic into a change of mind using facts. Ever. But EVERYONE wasn’t a fanatic. It seems now everyone on the Left is. Many on the right too. But, not everyone.

(I recall having a conversation with a Hare Krishna. She informed me with absolute certainty if you recite the Maha Mantra some number of times, it was something like 250,000 times, you were guaranteed enlightenment. Guaranteed! Impossible to not achieve this. She was committed to doing so as she wished to be Enlightened. The Maha Mantra is ‘Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare. Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare’. I asked her how long she had been doing this. She said five years. I asked her how many hours a day does she chant. She said four hours a day. It takes about half a minute. So, 120 an hour. Four hours a day, 480 reps a day. It worked out to well under two years and you’re enlightened! Guaranteed. I congratulated her on being enlightened. She said she wasn’t yet but was well on her way. I did the math for her. She looked completely blankly at me. As if she had been lobotomized instantly by my comment. And, then she changed the subject. She had disproved her own philosophy, but couldn’t even consider it. That’s a fanatic.)

In the old days, way back. I am talking way way back before Trump announced he would run for President, those old days, you could talk to most lefties and have a reasonable, often fruitless, but a reasonable conversation. You can’t now. Because there is no room on the left for anyone who doesn’t see eye to eye on myriad issues. No matter how complicated, no matter how historical, everyone has to agree fully on every issue.

Gaza and Israel? We all know what to think. There is no discussion allowed. The fact this issue is one of the most complicated lands right issues the world has ever seen, with myriad reasonable arguments on both sides, means nothing. We all know what we have to think. If you want to be Left.

Transgenderism? Anyone declaring himself a herself is to render him/her female, instantly. There is no discussion if you wish to remain in good standing on the left. No discussion allowed.

And so on.

Where do we go from here? There is only one way out as far as I can see. Everyone must speak the truth constantly. About everything. That means, NEVER declare your pronouns. Ever. If the subject of viruses comes up, and vaccines, say absolutely specifically and sincerely exactly what you believe. If everyone is annoyed, so be it. It also means listen to the other side. Refute them when they are wrong. But, do not ever speak without meaning every single word you say. You can out of politeness call someone Mary who is obviously a Fred. But, if asked, do not say ‘yes you are a woman’. Don’t weasel. If you don’t believe in AGW Climate Change, don’t say ‘Well, it is certainly an issue but I don’t think it is as calamitous as people seem to be saying.’ If you don’t believe that. Say ‘I don’t think it is an issue.’ If that is what you actually believe.

There is no other way out except through this.

But….this is Part One. In Part Two I will go more deeply into why Truth is the essential issue of our times. And, more importantly, how to speak it and what will be the benefits of having done so.
